Derek Hwong joined CanDeal in May 2019 as the Chief Information Officer. Derek is responsible for the Technology, Delivery, Infrastructure, Security (CISO), Operations and Management practices and processes. Prior to CanDeal, Derek was the Head of Engineering, Group Functions Technology & Global Data and Head of Canadian Division Data Office at Manulife where he was driving strategy and building capabilities globally. He has held various senior positions in Equity Trading & Data Distribution and Data Analytics & Research at TMX Group where the innovation has won several technology awards (ITAC and CATAAlliance), and in Trading for multiple asset classes at IBM Global Services and CGI. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science with honours in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Hong Kong.
